The Governor Shri Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar said that the social mindset towards Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe should change for the real upliftment of them. He was speaking while inaugurating the Dalit Progressive National Conclave at Thiruvananthapuram today.

Noting that change of religion or faith does not alter the basic living conditions of the deprived, he called for concerted action to be undertaken to bring real tangible improvement in their lives.

The Governor observed that Dr. Ambedkar's life was one of great suffering and it holds a lesson for the present day. 'His life and message takes him beyond Bharatratna and takes him to Viswaratna' the Governor added. He said that the birthday of Dr. Ambedkar should be celebrated by all and not confined among SC ST communities alone.

Honouring Padma awardee Smt. Lakshmikutty amma and long time Parliamentarian Shri Kodikunnil Suresh, the Governor wishes Smt. Lakshmikutty Amma, long years in the service of the nation. Shri Ramesh Chennithala, senior Congress Leader presided over the function.
