India to be a Roaring Lion: Governor

The Governor Shri Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar said that India has to develop its capabilities and to become economically self reliant by becoming a roaring lion, to make vision of the Prime Minister 'Vikashit Bharat' a reality. He was speaking while inaugurating the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of Janmabhumi Malayalam Daily here today.

Noting that, 50 years is a long period in the life of an institution; the Governor mentioned that it is also a time for introspection as to how far an organisation has been successful in living a life of its own values. Observing that the newspaper like Janmabhumi has to take a lead in the culture transformation, the Governor emphasized the role of family in infusing right values right from the bedrock of society.

Commenting that many newspapers are giving prominence to views and not news, the Governor said that – sensationalism is occupying the precious media space masquerading as real news.

ഭാരതം ഒരു ഗർജ്ജിക്കുന്ന സിംഹമാകണം: ഗവർണർ

പ്രധാനമന്ത്രിയുടെ "വികസിത് ഭാരത്' എന്ന ലക്ഷ്യം യാഥാർത്ഥ്യമാക്കുന്നതിന്, ഭാരതം അതിന്റെ കഴിവുകൾ വികസിപ്പിക്കുകയും സാമ്പത്തികമായി സ്വയംപര്യാപ്തത നേടുകയും ചെയ്യണമെന്നും അപ്രകാരം ഒരു ഗർജ്ജിക്കുന്ന സിംഹമായി മാറണമെന്നും ഗവർണർ ശ്രീ രാജേന്ദ്ര വിശ്വനാഥ് അർലേക്കർ പറഞ്ഞു. ജന്മഭൂമി മലയാളം ദിനപത്രത്തിന്റെ സുവർണ്ണ ജൂബിലി ആഘോഷങ്ങൾ ഇന്ന് ഉദ്ഘാടനം ചെയ്തു സംസാരിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു അദ്ദേഹം.

50 വർഷം എന്നത് ഏതൊരു സ്ഥാപനത്തിനെ സംബന്ധിച്ചിടത്തോളവും ഒരു നീണ്ട കാലയളവാണ്. എന്നാൽ സ്വന്തം മൂല്യങ്ങൾ മുറുകെ പിടിച്ച് മുന്നോട്ട് പോകുന്നതിൽ എത്രത്തോളം വിജയിച്ചു എന്ന് ആത്മപരിശോധന നടത്തേണ്ട സമയമാണെന്നും അദ്ദേഹം ഓർമ്മിപ്പിച്ചു.

സമൂഹത്തിലെ സാംസ്‌കാരിക പരിവർത്തനത്തിന് ജന്മഭൂമി പോലുള്ള പത്രങ്ങൾ നേതൃപരമായ പങ്ക് വഹിക്കേണ്ടതുണ്ടെന്ന് നിരീക്ഷിച്ച ഗവർണർ, ശരിയായ മൂല്യങ്ങൾ പഠിപ്പിക്കുന്നത് സമൂഹത്തിൻ്റെ അടിത്തട്ടിൽ നിന്നും തുടങ്ങേണ്ടതാണെന്നും, ഇതിൽ കുടുംബത്തിന്റെ പങ്ക് വളരെ നിസ്തുലമാണെന്നും പറഞ്ഞു.

പല മാധ്യമങ്ങളും അഭിപ്രായങ്ങൾ വാർത്തകളായി അവതരിപ്പിക്കുന്ന ഈ കാലഘട്ടത്തിൽ ജന്മഭൂമി പോലുള്ള പത്രങ്ങൾക്ക് വലിയ സ്വാധീനം ചെലുത്താനുണ്ടെന്ന് ഗവർണർ പറഞ്ഞു. സെൻസേഷണൽ ആയതും, വൈകാരികവുമായ സംഭവങ്ങളെ വാർത്തകളായി അവതരിപ്പിച്ച് വിലയേറിയ മാധ്യമയിടം അപഹരിക്കപ്പെടുന്നത് നല്ല പ്രവണത അല്ലെന്ന് ഗവർണർ പറഞ്ഞു.
