Kottarathil Sankunni an inspiring story-teller: Governor

Kottarathil Sankunni an inspiring story-teller - observed Shri Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, Hon'ble Governor of Kerala. He was inaugurating the 170th birth anniversary of the legendary writer Kottarathil Sankunni at Mamman Mappila Hall in Kottayam, today.

The Governor noted that the ethos, tradition and culture of the country was kept alive and transmitted to generations through stories and legends. Observing that such stories contribute to the spirit of nationalism and that has to be inculcated amongst people, the Governor also emphasized the importance of story-telling in families.

Earlier, the Governor also unveiled a bronze statue of Kottarathil Sankunni at the Pallippurath Kavu Temple premises in Kottayam.

കൊട്ടാരത്തിൽ ശങ്കുണ്ണിയുടെ 170-ാം ജന്മദിനാഘോഷം കേരള ഗവർണർ ശ്രീ രാജേന്ദ്ര വിശ്വനാഥ് അർലേക്കർ ഉദ്ഘാടനം ചെയ്തു.

കൊട്ടാരത്തിൽ ശങ്കുണ്ണി കേരള ജനതക്കാകെ ഒരു പ്രചോദനാത്മകമായ ഒരു കഥാകൃത്താണ് - ബഹുമാനപ്പെട്ട കേരള ഗവർണർ ശ്രീ രാജേന്ദ്ര വിശ്വനാഥ് അർലേക്കർ പറഞ്ഞു. മലയാളത്തിലെ അറിയപ്പെടുന്ന സാഹിത്യകാരന്‍ കൊട്ടാരത്തിൽ ശങ്കുണ്ണിയുടെ 170-ാം ജന്മവാര്‍ഷികം കോട്ടയം മാമ്മന് മാപ്പിള ഹാളില്‍ ഉദ്ഘാടനം ചെയ്യുകയായിരുന്നു അദ്ദേഹം.

ദേശത്തിന്‍റെ നൈതികത, പാരമ്പര്യം, സംസ്കാരം എന്നിവ സജീവമായി നിലനിർത്തുകയും കഥകളിലൂടെയും ഐതിഹ്യങ്ങളിലൂടെയും തലമുറകളിലേക്ക് കൈമാറുകയും ചെയ്ത ഒരു ആമൂല്യ പ്രതിഭയായിരുന്നു കൊട്ടാരത്തിൽ ശങ്കുണ്ണി എന്ന് ഗവർണർ പറഞ്ഞു. അത്തരം സൃഷ്ടികള്‍ ദേശീയതയുടെ ചൈതന്യത്തിന് മുതല്‍ക്കൂട്ട് ആണ് എന്നും നിരീക്ഷിച്ച ഗവർണർ കുടുംബങ്ങളിൽ കഥപറച്ചിലിന്‍റെ പ്രാധാന്യവും ഏടുത്തുപറഞ്ഞു.

നേരത്തെ കോട്ടയം പള്ളിപ്പുറത്ത് കാവ് ക്ഷേത്രപരിസരത്ത് കൊട്ടാരത്തിൽ ശങ്കുണ്ണിയുടെ വെങ്കല പ്രതിമയും ഗവർണർ അനാച്ഛാദനം ചെയ്തു.
